I need a good SMALL food processor for pureeing baby food

Any suggesitons? I love my regular cuisinart (it gets the consistency just right), but I need one with a smaller capacity cup. I have the Kidco food mill, but the food comes out just a bit too chunky and frankly I'm a bit concerned about the metal blade scraping against the plastic holes (is plastic ending up in my baby's food? i know it's bpa free and all, but still...). I bought a chefmate thing that looked like a food processor but really just chops the food, it does not puree. So I need a 1 to 3 cup capacity food processor, hopefully not too $$$. Thanks!

I loved my magic bullet for making baby food.

Skip the purees entirely and let her feed herself soft chunks.

Right now she doesn't like anything except pretty smooth purees. I would say maybe she's not ready, but she sits and the table with us and grabs at the food and really enjoys "sucking" on food (apples, etc). So I'm hoping a few weeks or a month of purees will get her started and then we can go with soft chunks.

I was going to say Magic Bullet, too.

I used a little baby food grinder, but it sounds like your little one prefers a smoother texture.

I have a little 1 cup capacity food processor made by Black and Decker. It's nothing fancy and was given to me as a gift. It does a pretty good job pureeing things. I think it probably came from somewhere like Target or Walmart for $20 or so. it might be enough to get you through til she moves on to chunkier foods.

We have an old Braun set (wedding gift 1999, baby born 2001) that includes: one power stick with cord, one mini food processor cup with steel blade attachment, whisk attachment, one blender attachment, and a tall slender-ish cup with a lid. Both the mini processor and the blender worked for our "prefers super smooth" baby. It is such a short period of time that I wouldn't purchase something SOLELY for this purpose. I would find something you would like to add to your kitchen tools anyway that would *also* work for pureeing baby food. (Just my two cents... )

I don't think the mini one's puree so well. If you have a good blender I would suggest using that, or that magic bullet gets good reviews.

Didn't read all the posts...

Use a blender w/a glass jar. I would look into Osters. I would prefer this to a food processor for a smooth puree.

The hand blender is the way to go! Also known as a stick blender or immersion blender, these things rock! Whether you cook the fruit/veggies in the microwave or on the stovetop, you can just use the hand blender to puree it right in the cooking dish/pot and then spoon it into your freezing containers. Super easy storage and clean up, and it is very easy to control how smooth or chunky the food is.

I started out with a big food processor, and after I got the hand blender, I put the processor away and haven't looked back.

I vote for the blender as well!

I used a generic magic bullet. It was the jc penney brand I got last black friday for $12. Worked very well for us. I use it now for a variety of things like making dressings, garlic oil, small batches of hummus, etc.

ITA! If you have a blender, I'd use that. I used either my blender or my foodmill. I have the Good Grips foodmill and love it. The entire thing is stainless steel (no plastic, except for the feet), works great, and the finest screen gives you a perfectly smooth puree.

I used the Cuisinart mini-prep when I was pureeing baby food. It was only $20 or $25 and it did a great job.
