Can anyone answer about Breaking Dawn? *question contains spoilers about the book*

Hello Everyone

For those who have read the Twilight series #4, Breaking Dawn, I have a question....
When Bella suspects she's pregnant and then calls Rosalie...why does she do that? Is there any indication of what she says to Rosalie, and what causes her to be so protective during the final pregnant days?

Thanks!
Kelsey

You'll find out.

She does describe why she went to Rosalie first. As for what causes her to be so protective (I assume you're talking about Rosalie here?), it all comes out fairly soon.

Kelsey -- do you remember Rosalie's story of her "human" life in Eclipse? The one thing that she envied her friend was her baby boy. Then she talked about how she saved Emmett because he reminded her of her friend's son. She also talked about how hard it was to accept that as a vampire, she would never be able to have children. How Esme tried to make up for it with her adopted kids but that it was really hard for them to deal with. She talked about wanting to be sitting on the porch surrounded by her grandkids. She told Bella, that despite her actual age, because of when she lived she was ready to take on her adult role in life and that is what she envied in Bella and why she didn't want Bella to become a vampire. She didn't think that Bella was fully aware of the life she was giving up. Bella knew that Rosalie would see the miracle of what was happening instead of the disaster. Rosalie would do ANYTHING to be able to have a child.
(I've answered this without getting Eclipse out to check for quotes, because once the book is out I'll have to read it again and I have a busy week. )

Alyantavid: How? I've read it all, did I miss something?

KYCat: thats totally what I was thinking...and I guess Edward calling the baby an "it" and telling Bella that Carlisle would "take care of it" freaked her out and she knew that Rosalee would stand by her side.

I think I just read the book too fast!

In Elcipse Rosalie came to talk to Bella the first night ( I think) when Alice "kidnapped" Bella for a sleepover when Edward went hunting. It was the first or second night Bella slept in Edward's room after he got the big bed ( though she slept on the couch ) That's when Rosalie told her story to Bella as previous posters have described.

Okay, so its not at all that Bella was *giving* the baby to Rosalee (someone put that in my head, and even though I know how the story ends I can't shake the feeling I'm missing someting...Rose seemed really protective for someone thats just looking out for her, ykwim).
She just looked to her for protection of the new life not at all considering any ramifications to her carrying such a baby...right?

Yes Bella just wanted Rosalie to help protect the baby since everyone else just wanted it out of her. Although I think Rosalie would have taken the baby if she was offered it of course.

I'm rereading this now. Halfway through Jacob's "book". Good stuff!!

In the third book, Rosalie tells Bella something that makes Bella think that Rosalie will help her and protect her from the other members of the family who want to abort the baby.

Bella knows that Rosalie will protect the baby.

As seen through Jacob's eyes we also realize that Rosalie prioritizes the baby over Bella not just because its a baby that needs protecting, but because its a baby she may get to raise when Bella dies.

FaithfulOne- that's what you get for not reading Jacob's chapter! Jacob is confused about the Rosalie protection too but it's pretty much explained by Jacob's thoughts and Edward letting him know what Rosalie is thinking. You gotta read Jacob's chapter!

Rosalie is a woman not to be messed with. She hunted down the men that assaulted her and HURT them. She is a strong advocate to have in your corner. Before she became a vampire, the one thing she really wanted was a baby. Because vampire's cannot have children in the traditional way it is the one reason why Rosalie did NOT want Bella to give up her humanity. She didn't really like Bella for a long time, partly because Bella took that humanity so lightly. Bella knew that Rosalie would fight viciously to protect the baby no matter her feelings towards Bella herself. Esme probably would do, but she defers to her husband quite a bit I think, so Rosalie was the obvious choice.

Ditto what the others have said. When Bella is kidnapped by Alice and staying in Edward's bedroom Rosalie knocks on the door and wants to talk to her. She tells her her human story and explains that is why she voted no when they asked about Bella becoming a vampire. She said something like "You have everything I ever wanted and your going to throw it all away."

When on the island and Bella finds out she is pregnant Edward call Carlisle and then tells Bella that as soon as they get home Carlisle will take care of it and get it out of here before it does any damage. Bella doesn't want to abort the baby so she calls Rosalie who she knows will be in her corner.

When we see what is happening through Jacob's eye's we see his confusion because he knows Rosalie and Bella never got along and he sense tension between her and Edward over the baby. I *think* Edward even hints to Jacob that Rosalie is also looking out for Bella in the off chance she doesn't make it and that Rosalie has her own agenda for caring. The first few days of Renesmes life she is cared for by Rosalie and Jacob.
