Poop/gas questions in an EBF baby...could be tmi

Pardon the typos/lack of capitalization - i'm nak!

For the past two or so weeks, my ebf 2.5 month-old DD has only been pooping every 2-3 days. In the very beginning, she used to poop with every feeding. Should I be concerned?

Additionally, she has unbelievably putrid gas. It could singe your eyelashes...it's like pure methane. Could this be a sign of a dairy allergy/sensitivity? I feel so sad for her - she looks like she's quite uncomfortable and there really isn't anything i can do to help her.

This is such a different bf experience from my ds...he never had any intestinal issues. In fact, we used to call him 'mr. regular!'

thanks for any insight you could provide.

Both of mine did this. DS would go 5-8 days without a BM from about 3.5-6 months. DD would go 3-6 days from about 2-4 months. One thing I noticed when they started going longer between BMs was that they required "wet" diaper changes way more often and also that their gas was stinkier.

Perfectly normal. BF babies can often go up to a week between poos. My DS used to go between 6-7 days and at first I was worried until I learned it was fine. The gas is normal too.

And it is completely strange that the gas can clear a room, but the poops (when they arrive) are usually pretty harmless!

Oh, I feel SO much better knowing that it's perfectly normal.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences.
