Looking for a Knit Pilot Cap Pattern - a "pointy-er" one

My mom would love to knit a few hats for the coming babe. I've been looking for pilot cap type patterns, but am having difficulties finding the right one. I don't care for the LTK pattern because it seems too boxy or squarish to me. What I'd really like is a pattern for the ones she makes. I love the point and the lines to the design. Any ideas on where I can get a pattern for something like this?

That's a free pattern called the Sweet Baby Hat: http://grosblog.wordpress.com/2007/0...weet-baby-cap/

For some reason it doesn't show any pictures of the hat on the pattern itself, but if you do a Google Image search for 'Sweet Baby Hat' or 'Norwegian Baby Hat' you'll see it's the one you're looking for.

I was going to suggest the Sweet Baby Hat linked above.

It's a nice quick knit! DD wears hers in this picture.

I recently knit the Sweet Baby Hat pattern and just wondering, for those of you who have knit this pattern, are all three points supposed to be the same length? In other pictures the forehead point is more shallow, but mine came out equal to the ear flap points. Did I do something wrong?

I knit this twice and both times all three points came out the same length... it just looks like the bottom two are longer because they are pulled forward a bit when the hat is tied on.

I wasn't actually very sure about that pattern, actually. A number of the pictures that I've seen of it weren't all that impressive/certainly didn't look like the one that was linked.

Is that the only one out there like that?

That is an awesome hat! What yarn and needles did you use and for what size in the pattern?

If you're on Ravelry, here is the info for the second one I made. I also made a smaller one when my dd was a newborn.

Otherwise it's Mirasol Hacho and 2.75 mm needles.

Fun quick knit.

I'll have to knit a third one, I imagine she'll outgrow her by the end of winter and will need a bigger one for the spring.

All three points are the same for me too, I double checked. It's just that the whole hat ends up tilted toward the back once it's tied, making for an almost straight line behind the neck and framing the face nicely.

I love that hat. I've knit it twice and it's very sweet! I used a worsted weight yarn and adjusted the pattern to suit that- it knit up really quickly! Here are some of the finished ones I like. I think one common problem I see on Ravelry is that many of them look a little small to me.

Thank You so much Malva! I love mirasol yarn- it is so much fun to knit with and it is all so beautiful! I would love to knit my DC matching elf hats and trummed mittens for Christmas I think...... I think I am going to put those on my to do list!
