Hi! I was wondering if anyone gets this magazine? If so, what do you think of it?

Thank you, thank you!

We get Babybug for DD and Ladybug and Click for my older DSs. We love them all, and the kids love getting something in the mail. Cricket magazines are awesome.

We received it from about 6m-18m. It was cute, but the stories were a little short for the kid's attention span, even at that age. We get Ladybug now, and will probably get both Ladybug and Cricket in the next few years (maybe when he turns 5).

How old is your LO?

We skipped Babybug and went straight to Ladybug and DD, who is now 28 months, has been reading it for over a year.

We also really like the National Geographic Little Kids magazine. But DD is animal obsessed!

We picked up one issue of Babybug at a yard sale, and it was one of EnviroKid's favorite books at about 18-24 months. Then my mom got him a subscription to Ladybug, which he adores.

My ds is 10 mos. He likes being read to....for about a minute. Then he's off and running again. It appears that the stories in Babybug are short. Perfect for him. I can't wait for the day when he wants to cuddle and have me read to him. As for now, he's very independent and I take what I can get!

Thank you, everyone, for the responses. They have been very helpful.

Yes, they're very short. We got it for awhile and have the old copies around, and the illustrations are beautiful, but the stories are very brief.

We also got Click for awhile and LOVED it.

Wow, glad I found out about this magazine. My bff has two little girls, one who loves to be read to and it seems will be a big reader. The other is hearing impaired and just got aides at 3mo so interventionalists all recommended lots of reading. I was going to get High 5 or whatever for them but this will be MUCH better -- thanks!

I liked it a lot for our son - who sounds a lot like your son. Ds went through a period from about 12-18 months where it was really hard to read to him because he was so busy. The Babybug stuff was great for him. It also had different 'activities' that he liked and I found all the stories and poems to be well written. That being said, a 1 year subscription was all that we needed. We just recycled them after that!

We borrow them from the library. Why not try a few back issues before you subscribe?

We received a gift subscription to BabyBug when our older DD turned one. The stories are very, very short (as mentioned by others).

We did save the issues, though, and we have been glad we did. Now that we have two DDs, and the older is beginning to learn to read on her own, the short, simple stories are great for her to practice letter and word recognition and "read" to her sister.

Also, the pages are sturdy and the colors are very nice, so the issues really are worthy of keeping on the book shelf.
