We have covered place value and have a few workbooks we pull out once in a while for practice. Ds (9) seems to forget how to read a large number.. and then after 5 or 10 problems he s got it down pretty much. Last night the kids were playing monopoly with dh. He came over to me and said "ds doesn't know how to count or add..thats important and you need to work on it more". I guess he had problems counting the money to pay siblings. I know he can count by 5's, 10's, and 20's. He can count change esp if he wants to buy something from ice cream man. We have a box we call the candy shop and we pretend to buy things with coins. The problem was with 50's and 100's . I was trying to think about my own exp with larger numbers growing up..can't really remember. Any thoughts or ideas on what you do to work on large numbers?
