How do you keep you bathroom fresh? - Page 2

The reed diffusers are good in winter (in summer it's easier just to leave the window open).

I bought one of those plug in diffusers last winter and my Dad visited - he pulled it out and threw it away, telling me that they're responsible for a large number of fires. Apparently if the firemen are called the first thing they look for are the plug in diffuers. If the oil runs out and you don't realise and keep it plugged in, they can overheat and catch alight. The fire runs up the inside of the wall and into the roof, so the whole house can be engulfed really quickly.

No windows in our bathrooms and I haven't noticed an odor problem. We keep the doors open, though. I try to wipe up the bathroom (toilet, sink) daily, though.

it's smelling stale, no serwer smell and not mildew. One big problem is dh will take a shower and not open the window and close the door when he's done so when I go in an hour or so later is all muggy. I have been keeping the window opened a little all day long with the door sometimes opened and sometimes closed. we only have one bathroom and for some reason once it started getting cold the knob became hard to turn and now ds cannot open it by himself so it is getting left open more often to try and avoid accidents. It has been nice because now the bathroom is not freezing everytime you go in!

I am going to try a reed difusser, would like to make one, or maybe the spray bottle of h2o and essential oil as I have a ton of oils. It has been nice because now the bathroom is not freezing everytime you go in!

Has anyone made a difusser? I can't decide how to go about it, I have read that bamboo skewers work and also that they don't work. For the base I have read that you can use any oil, canola, almond, mineral, etc., and also that you need some fancy oil that has name that sounds scientific, apparently that's what they use in the store bought ones. Any tips?
