My son only likes one side!

My 5 mo only likes to eat off one side. Every once in a while I can trick him into eating on the right, but most of the time he fights it, I give in, and he happily chows down on the left. He is def. gaining (99% in weight and 75% in height) and meeting all of his milestones, so I know he is not lacking in nutrition. I pump off right a few times a day, which is nice because I can freeze that milk, but I am really starting to see a diff. in my breast size. I don't think I can force him to eat off the right more than I am, but I was just looking for support from others that may have the same issue. I want to BF as long as possible and believe I can off one breast, but just curious if others have had this issue and how they dealt.

Have you tried holding him in different positions for the right side maybe foot ball hold where he is looking up with the same eye as on the left if that makes sense.

No reason you cant keep doing just one breast other than the size difference thing. It can get quiet obvious.

It happened to me, too. My youngest refused the left early on. I pumped a few times a day, and always noted that the volume of the left was much less than the right. I've developed a significant size difference, too.

The irony is, she started using both again... I don't even know when. Maybe around a year. She now nurses off either side happily, and insists on "other side" no matter where she starts.

ugh, we've been dealing with this for about 5 months. i can get her to nurse ont eh other side, but usually she likes the fuller one (my left). i definatly notice the differnece in size but i don't think other people do. hopefully they'll go back to normal later.

That's the reason why now my right breasts is bigger than the left side.

I was just digging through old threads when I stumbled on this . . . wanted to point out that very often this is an issue that a Chriopractor can fix. I can't really explain the details because I don't understand it, but apparently they can have some kind of subluxation (?) that makes it hard for them to turn their head one way or open their jaw when their head is turned or something like that.

HTH!

many women can and do nurse from only one breast, or one more than the other.
my daughter prefered one side, but i figured out it was the position she liked, not the other breast. i got creative about tricking her into taking the less favored side.
sometimes i double up the nursing pads in the smaller side to fill the bra- (buy the size you need for the bigger.) just to look more even.
