Crunchy preschools or childcare centers in Durham or Chapel Hill, NC?

Hi, does anybody know of any childcare centers in Chapel Hill or Durham that are more on the natural side (e.g. some organic foods, open to cloth diapering, etc.) and that emphasize treating children with respect and empathy?

I've run across a couple fit this description pretty well, but I will be on their waiting lists and am hoping to find additional centers to look at because I need to find something very soon.

Thanks for any ideas!

We've been very happy at Family Preschool. www.familypreschool.org. If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them.

If you find a place you love that takes infants let me know! I am not due until April, but I will be going back to work in July/August and will need full-time care.

Don't know if this is an issue for you, but unless things have changed, Family Preschool will only take fully vaxed kids.

The childcare center at RTI is pretty crunchy. They cloth diaper, have organic milk, etc. It is a coop type place, so you have to volunteer a certain amount of time there per year too. Even though it is primarily for RTI employees, they are open to the public too. I do not know their position on vaccinations though. http://www.rti-pcco.org/

My hubby works for RTI and I am almost positive they don't request vax for the co-op. They actually give the kids cloth dipes while they are in care there; no disposable dipes inside the facility. DH's boss takes them home to wash 'em.

Zoe runs Morning Glory in Durham, which is awesome!

Thanks everyone for the ideas and links! I will look into these! I didn't realize RTI's center was open to the public. That's good to know.

Thanks again for the ideas! Unfortunately none of these options will work for us for one reason or another (not the right age range, etc.).

Does anyone know of any other AP-friendly options for childcare in the area? I am having a hard time finding something that fits, and I would welcome more ideas. Thanks!

You may want to check out Chapel Hill Co-op Preschool. It's been almost 9 years since my son was there, but they were "crunchy" then. We never had any problems, and he loved all the teachers there.

Thanks! I looked at the online handbook and it sounds pretty good. I will check it out!
