your favorite book or series of books

Thread Starter
I am going crazy with reading and I'm looking for more stuff to read. My personal favorite is the Twilight series. I liked the Hunger games, Sookie Stakehouse series, and Jodi Piccoults books. I can't wait to hear your favorites.
I almost forgot I also read the outlander series. I liked Outlander, but the author went a little overboard on some stuff in my opinion.

All time favorite series...probably Ursula le Guin's Earthsea books. They started out as a trilogy, but she's written more since then.

I'm also very fond of Julia Spencer-Fleming's series about Clare Fergussen, an ex-Army helicopter pilot turned Episcopal priest. The first one, In the Bleak Midwinter, in which Rev. Fergussen finds a newborn baby on her church steps, is especially good. I really like the way the characters develop through the series.

There are so many...

Today, my favorite two series are:

1) A.S. Byatt's quartet The Virgin in the Garden, Still Life, Babel Tower, and A Whistling Woman.

2) Pamela Dean's Secret Country books: The Secret Country, The Hidden Land, and The Whim of the Dragon.

These are very different series by very different authors.

You might try the Uglies series by Scott Westefeld. Or Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. There are a couple of sequels to it now...

The Hobbit, LOTRs books by J.R.R. Tolkien
Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Twilight series by Stepheny Meyer
Dance Upon the Air, Heaven and Earth, Face the Fire by Nora Roberts
Narnia books by C.S Lewis

Not quite in the same genre of books but I love Beverly Lewis- she has numerous series on the Amish and they are fun to read.

Twilight I love to reread.

the Scarpetta Series by Patricia Cornwell and I also love Harlan Coben books, but they aren't a series but he is just starting to become popular from a couple of his bestsellers

I've never read any Beverly Lewis...which series would you recommend to start with?

I forgot to mention the Odd Thomas books by Dean Koontz.

And I liked The Left Behind Series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkns, but it was a loooong series, could have used some major editing and not sure I agree theologically with it...but it was interesting.

My reading styles are all over the place. I read and enjoyed the Twilight Series. I regularly re-read the Anne of Green Gables books to tatters; same with Harry Potter books.

The target audience is a bit younger, but I have read nearly all of Madeleine L'Engle books (The Murray books, the Austin Books, etc).

Again, a younger audience and old-fashioned beside, but I enjoyed the Betsy-Tacy books.

Narnia series.

Orson Scott Card: The Ender books, the Shadow books, the Homecoming books, as well as a few standalone books of his

I like Torey Hayden, but the can be depressing reads.

There is a hilarious series about an old Southern lady, Miss Julia....I can't think of the author right now.

So, not quite in the same thread as the Twilight books, and quite a variety there....but there ya go!

I haven't read the Twilight series yet....

Series I like:
The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (and The Silmarillion)
(absolutely the best and I reread every year)

Harry Potter series

The Bartimaeus Trilogy (YA)

Song of Ice & Fire series (George RR Martin, a series in process)* - 4 books so far

Wheel of Time series (Robert Jordan, a series in progress)* - 12 books so far

All of Anne McCaffrey's series

(all of the above are fantasy type series)

*The Martin and Jordan series are really good in that they have some complex story lines - lots of characters and motives to keep track of. Having spent some time on the HP fan boards, I can say that there is a TON more to obsess and strategize about in those books as opposed to HP.

I would start with Abrahm's Daughters, I think there are 5 books in that series but they are pretty quick easy reads once you get started. After that I really like the series The Courting of Nellie Fisher.

And Fear Nothing and Seize the Night by Koontz are great!

I love the Alex Delaware novels by Jonathon Kellerman...murder mysteries with strong psychological influences.

Anything by Robin Cook and Stephen King.

Ann B. Ross

I also like Elizabeth Peters's Amelia Peabody series. Archeology/Egyptology mysteries set in the late 19/early 20 century.

I love those too! I also like the Mitford books, I think they're written by Jan Karon.
