Omega 3 supplements for Children

Thread Starter
I am interested in getting my almost 2 year old to take an Omega 3 supplement for DHA. I was wondering what other mamas out there give their children for DHA, and that their children actually like/will take?

Also, it seems a lot of people on these forums take cod liver oil for themselves and their children, for Omega 3 and Vit. D, but since my child is already taking a multivitamin I'm guessing this wouldnt be the best source for him for DHA?
Thanks for your advice!

Are you concerned that taking a multi with cod liver oil will give too much vit D or A? The vits A and D in CLO are so much better for you than whatever form is in the multivitamin. CLO has the DHA and omega 3's you're looking for, as well as the best form of all natural vitamins A and D. I'd take CLO before a multi.

Not all CLO is created equal, however. I like Green Pasture's myself.

My kids love the orange-flavored Coromega packets and actually get them out themselves at breakfast time if I forget to give them. We have tried some of the other flavors (lemon-lime and chocolate-orange) and not liked them, but the orange is like an orange creamsicle. No fish burps after, no sugar, AS, yeast, etc. I order a few times a year from Vitacost. HTH

DD takes Garden of Life CLO, lemon flavored. . .she's not the biggest fan of the taste so she usually has to chase it with juice.

DS hates the CLO but loves Garden of Life Oceans Kids DHA chewables in Berry.

We take an organic fish oil supplement from Nordic Naturals that is strawberry flavored. We get it at Whole Foods or from the chiro. Both kids (19 months and 4 yo) love it. They can't wait to take it each day. I've tasted them. They aren't bad.

My son loved these too. We ran out and he kept asking for his fishies.
