Mosquito bite allergy in 18 month old

Help!! my little girl seems to have a bad mosquito bite allergy. She gets red, hot, quarter size bumps that don't really bother her but look terrible. I don't really want to give her benadryll. We took her to the caribean last summer and she didn't react this way to mosquitos, but back home in the US she is having this reaction. Any advice would be really appreciated.

My DD2 gets the same thing. When she's gotten lots of them, I have resorted to Benadryl. But I got these bugbands online that had natural ingredients, and she wears them, and since then she doesn't get bitten much.

DS and I both react to mosquito bites that way. I think it's just a difference in different types of mosquitoes. If they don't bother her, I wouldn't treat them, but DS gets very itchy so I give him oral benadryl at night if he wakes up scratching. For myself, I use very hot water to take away the itch, but obviously that's not safe with a child.

I too am allergic to the little buggers. I can't take benadryl, so to relieve the swelling, I use rubbing alcohol, or vinegar. My welts are about the size of a quarter, and I live in Houston. Right now we are under seige with them. The rubbing alcohol or the vinegar really takes the sting and the itching out. Hope that helps!

Fire ant bites seem like they'd be the same general principle, and when my son got a bunch this past spring, extra vitamin C helped and homeopathic ledum helped. He also needed extra zinc (because it's one of the nutrients our livers use to detoxify stuff, and an injected toxin from an insect qualifies). I give the kids a B complex and magnesium as an ongoing thing as well (for specific health stuff for us), not sure if that helped or not, but it's the same theory--nutrients that our bodies use to do the chemical processes to excrete this stuff.
