To felt or not to felt.... wool interlock (pics added)

Hi Mamas,
I have some 100% wool interlock and want to make some long johns for my 4 year old. Since it's not for diapering, I'm not concerned about it being waterproof. I would like it to be as soft as possible and retain stretchiness.
Should I try to felt it or not? Thanks!

I wouldn't felt it. The fibers lock onto one another and this will affect the stretch. Also, I find wool fabrics that are felted to be a bit stiff and scratchier. I would cold water wash without agitation, in a specifically for wool type wash soap.

I do felt, and that's because I like low maintenance. That way, even if I accidently throw them in the wrong load or put them in the dryer (as i tend to do!), i know they will stay the same size!

Thank you both for the suggestions. I decided not to felt since it's 100% and I'll handwash anyway. The long johns turned out really cute!

I'd be glad to share a pic. The first is him in the wool jammies the day he decided they weren't jammies but clothes. The top is a simplicity pattern (5271) the bottoms are from Otto winter/07. The second picture is another pair of jammies I made with the simplicity pattern.
