PUL Covers question...

Should I really have to wash it after every use? It's brand new and yet it's winding up wet on the outside every time I use it. It's left wet spots in his bassinet after a nap even.

It's an Imse Vimse cover, and it's been washed probably a dozen times since I got it (just because I have to wash after every use... it's only a couple weeks old), and run through the dryer once or maybe twice.

Where is the wetness originating from? If it's from the leg openings, then it's a bad fit, your baby has too small thighs for the cover. I have had covers do this to me all the time since ds has the magical skinny thighs.

If the wetness is coming from the middle of the cover.....it's shot. If it's been happening since the beginning you probably got a bad cover. Try contacting Imse Vimse.

What the above said also a cover is only as good as the diaper used expecting a cover to say last through a long nap or night with a 2 layer flannel fitted under it isn't going to work no matter how great the cover its a mistake many CDers make they assume a bullet proof cover is just that.
If the fits good the diaper isn't over taxed ect there are a few thigns you can try. try added a dryer sheet in with the covers (NOT DIAPERS) it will kinda coat them and can increase water proofing you can also buy waterproofing sprays at many camping supply places that will be safe for pull and not affect breathability. A treated cover will need a full day to dry and require good ventalation while it is but its a great product to treat leaky covers with.
