Allergy testing 9mo. old with 2 yr. old present?

I am having 9 month old DS tested for allergies tomorrow. We have been dealing with severe eczema, hives and diaper rashes for months. We have been waiting for this appointment for a while and now I can't find a sitter for DD who is 29 months old. My mother was supposed to keep her but had an emergency and is out of town and DH can not get out of work. I really do not want to reschedule. My question is will it be too much for DD to see DS get the skin prick test done? For those of you who have had infants allergy tested, is it really painful for them? I was worried enough about DS going through this and now DD will have to watch. Should I reschedule?
I also wanted to thank all of you for the useful information on allergies, elimination diets, etc. I have learned so much.

It's not painful at all. If anything, they might feel a little tickle when the needle scratches them. It really just barely scratches the skin. It didn't bother my DD at all when she had it done (a little over 1yo.) What annoyed her more was having to sit still while they were putting all the dots on her back.

My DS had them on his arm, at under a year. Can't remember if my 4yo watched or not. Probably. He didn't care much at the time. Just rememer that they say it's not that accurate under 2yo...

The biggest thing is you will need both your hands to hold your ds after the test because it itches and they cannot touch it. So if you think your dd will be able to sit or play without you needing to deal with her then I dont see a problem.

I would be highly, highly skeptical of skin prick test results from testing on a child with severe eczema. Every allergist I've deal with WOULD NOT spt my kids until their eczema was under better control. Something about eczemateous skin being more reactive....

Thank you all for your replies. I know it may not be accurate, our ped. was not for it but I don't know what else to do. His eczema looks better then it has in 6 months this week so hopefully they will do it. That is another reason I did not want to reschedule. I am pretty sure that in a few days he will not look this good. It makes me feel better that it will not hurt him and I have packed coloring books and small toys for DD. Thanks again.

Remember that eczema can be from either food allergies, environmental allergies, or food intolerances, so even if a food comes back negative on an allergy test, it doesn't mean it isn't causing the eczema.
