What finger foods/hors d'vores would you serve? It might take a while for the torte to be done, so I would like some things on hand when guests arrive. I was thinking sparkling cider, grapes, cheese... anything else? I want kind of light and simple..

I have a recipe I can share that is pureed white beans, cream cheese, and chives with a slice or two of cucumber on whole grain bread rounds. Always a hit. And nutritious!

You can also buy walnuts/almonds, dried apricots, olives, things that require no prep.

Radishes with butter and spiced salts.

Tiny chicken/tuna/or garbanzo salads. Or herbed cream cheese on pumpernickel cocktail breads.

Mix of marinated veggies (like olives, artichoke hearts, roasted garlic, sun dried tomatoes) with toasted baguette.

Hmm. I generally go for heartier finger food than might be appropriate at a tea and cake party, so let me think... tiny club sandwiches cut with heart-shaped cookie cutters? Cheese choux puffs? (You can make them ahead and freeze them). Crackers topped with sundried tomaato pesto and a sliver of cream cheese? Olives? Cheese and poppy seed "straws" made with filo or puff pastry? Shaved ham or proscuitto rolled around cream cheese and pickles? Mini muffins with bacon, sausage, corn etc in them? Cherry tomatoes stuffed with feta and basil pesto?
