I'm on antibiotics - how to avoid baby getting thrush?

I had a HORRIBLE bout of Mastitis I'm still trying to recover from. I had a fever of 103, cold chills, cold sweats, and was so weak I could hardly walk. There was no way I could avoid antibiotics. I've been pumping frequently,b ut throwing the milk out. (Because I took a unisom to help me sleep.) I'd like to start storing the milk, but I don't wan to DS to drink that milk because I know it can cause thrush. Is there anything I can get to help prevent that so I don't have to throw the milk out? and where would I get it?

ETA: and how woudl I give it to him? He's only 2 months old. Do I mix it in with breastmilk in a bottle? Or should I just get some probiotics for big people, tak eit myself and expect it to pass to him?

Hugs to you its tough Ive been there. I always just eat a yougurt w/live cultures once a day whike one the anitbiotic. If you dont like it you can get probiotic pills. You dont need to pump & dump just nurse doing this ive never had thrush GL

Here's a probiotic that is made for infants. You can mix it in with your BM. I just got over mastitis a few weeks ago (I also had to take antibiotics). I have always taken probiotic supplements and continued to BF through the antibiotics - luckily, no thursh afterwards!

They do say that if the mother takes a probiotic while BF-ing, it will also be passed along in her BM.

Your situation is different than mine, but I had antibiotics after both of my deliveries, plus antibiotics after a case of mastitis, and never pumped and dumped, and never had to deal with thrush. I know it can be awful, and I was worried about it, but it didn't happen. So at least for me, antibiotics did not equal thrush.
