Best site to find dr recs for nonvax family??

I am at my wits end. I've gotten recs from like minded locals, I've tried my tribal area, but I am just exhausted when it comes to going to the dr. I am currently driving 40+ minutes one way to a dr that tolerates us and I'm just sick of it. There has got to be a better option. A crunchy dr review site? Something??

I've even searched for homeo/naturopaths in my area - there is one naturopath and the reviews I have gotten from friends and family are not that great, so please help??

Since several people have requested it, I've compiled a list of anti-vax friendly docs listed alphabetically by state. Go ahead and add new ones in the replies, and I will edit my original posting to incl...ude yours....Please do not post unless you have a new one to add to the list, or a correction for an old one. Thanks!

Criteria for being an "anti-vax friendly doc" - please be sure of these criteria before you post.

Must not kick patients out of their practice or refuse patients who choose not to vaccinate/selectively vax/delay vax.

Must not make parents sign waivers that are worded so as to incriminate parents for "putting their child at risk"
Must not harrass parents every time they have a checkup or harrass them through the mail about vaccinations.

Must not belittle parents for their decisions or bully them with scare tactics - must respect a parent for their choices.

Enjoy! Now remember, these docs listed are ok with non-vaxing/delayed vaxing to varying degrees - be sure to call them and see what exactly their policy is. As well, the doctors on this list have not necessarily given their consent to be added and may not necessarily be "anti-vax" in their practice

I know this thread is old, but it just literally saved my sanity.

I am in Jenks OK (right outside of Tulsa OK).  We don't vax.  I have two children, ages 3 and 5, and so far we have gone to a pro-vax doctor and just ignored her disapproval.

The other day my daughter had a bad choking cough, so I took her in.  The doctor diagnosed a sinus infection.  I said "Whew, I was a little worried it might be Whooping Cough".  The doctor said "Oh, you don't need to worry about that, because she's vaccinated for it"...and I was like "She has never had a shot in her life".

She called the health department and DD'spreschool.  She told the preschool that DD's class and preferably the whole school should go on preventative antibiotics. WTH?  SERIOUSLY??

I was livid, and after ONE DAY on antibiotics her cough was all but gone.

Then I started looking for a new doctor.

I want to sincerely thank whoever recommended Dr Gerald Wooten in Jenks.  I had a great talk with a staff member this AM, and made appointments for both children. He seems too good to be true, and I cannot WAIT to meet him, and for my kids to start going to an office where they are not made to feel like lepers.

This is great news! I'm so glad your daughter is feeling better too :)

This shows how some doctors won't look for whooping cough, because a patient has been vaccinated for it and they assume vax=immune. Are they aware a fully vaccinated person can still get whooping cough? At least you've found a new doctor, and I hope you have a great experience with him.

OMG ~ this is why I do not believe the CDC stats and the stories regaring whooping cough "outbreaks". Drs think "vax status" is the diagnostic...not the symptoms that are being experienced! So glad you have found a good ped!

If you have to be on soonercare in OKLAHOMA  Dr. Shawna McCalip is okay with not vaccinating. She is not pushy she may ask every now and again but she's totally okay with it. I just wanted to add this because I list my insurance due to my father dying(I worked for him) and I had to go that route. I can now see Dr Wootan in Jenks but I had to get by and get a doctor so I chose her. Just a heads up. She is in Broken Arrow, OK

UPDATE:

 Both kids had their appointments with the new ped yesterday.

He is a VERY crunchy doctor, all about natural supplements and strong immune systems. His staff talked to me about probiotics, organic produce, gardening, etc. They even gave me a hand-out about the dirty dozen. This office was SO perfect for me it was unreal.

He is a published author and wrote "The Detox Diet for Dummies"
