slings and nursing

I have a question for those of you who nurse your babies in a sling...what is your preferred sling style? I have a Moby Wrap and really liked it except I could never get DD to nurse in there (this could be due to her being in the NICU for a month, I plan to try again with this next baby). I really want to be able to discreetly nurse the next baby while at the store, park, etc. and still be able to run after DD...any suggestions?

I prefer a pouch sling or my Ergo once they get bigger. I think that shirt style matters just as much as anything though. nursing tanks and an over shirt work the best for me at being discreet.

Mei tais are my preferred carrier and I can nurse pretty well in them.

I'll nurse in whatever I'm wearing, pouch, ring sling, or wrap, but I think the wrap has been the most mobile for me (not a stretchy, but a woven one).

I cannot nurse in a sling to save my life. Don't feel bad if you can never get it I have tried a Moby, ring and mei tei. (look-alikes that I made, except the mei tei) I have gotten close in a few, but DS HATES (let me say that again) HATES thing on his head. So we never figured out the sling thing. Maybe one day I will have a baby that likes to nurse in the sling

My ring sling works well.. I put her in a cradle position in the sling.. Her head near the ring and I nurse her while I wear a nursing cover over the top of the sling (since I nurse while teaching high school kids). Plus the sling and the cover help keep DD warm.

I am able to nurse my 8 month old in a ring sling and mai tei. He likes to sit up with his mouth at the level of my nipple. If you can get him to sit like that it's all a matter of getting nipple in mouth.

This has been my experience completely. I have had a hard time finding nursing clothes that are both affordable and fit well...so a lot of times, I'm just wearing a normal shirt. So to get my shirt all the way up while keeping the baby put and being comfortable has been quite tricky...

Ring sling. I had a Maya with my twins and have a Zolowear with this baby. I really find the wraps (like the Moby) challenging to nurse in - baby just doesn't feel well supported to me. I really only like the Moby for a short time when baby is newborn and likes being held really snug against mom's chest. I can nurse in the Ergo, but it's awkward.

Honestly, I like the ring slings better than any carrier I've used (Moby, Ergo, pouch sling, mei tei). I find them more adjustable, more comfortable, and easier to use, but that's my experience and I know others have different preferences.

My 11 month old also hates hates hates anything on her head, so I actually wear and nurse her differently than my twins. W/ the twins, I'd wear baby w/ head toward rings while in the cradle hold for an infant or while nursing (even when older). With current DD, I wear her on the side opposite the rings, so when she's nursing I have to support her head with my arm because if I try to tuck her into the sling she gets so mad. Only can be "hands-free" when she falls asleep! This also made the Moby difficult as it's hard to have baby supported while nursing and not have fabric over her head.

I always wore nursing tops with my twins (try nursing two active babies discreetly in public with your teeshirt up under your chin ), but w/ my youngest I typically just wear a normal shirt with a nursing tank underneath. Easier and cheaper!
