Please helop ASAP

my daughter is EBF her 4 week old. She has an infection in her finger was in the ER tonight. They had to do a nerve block & lance her finger. OUCH Anyway. They gave her a shot and THEN said don't Breast feed. GEE THANKS huh!

Right now we are feeding the baby frozen BM and shes pumping & dumping but her question is how long does she have to wait until she can nurse her again? She was given a shot of 1 gram CEFTRIAXONE

Thank you so much! I told her if anyone knows the answer it would be one of you mommies!

Checked Hale's "Medication and Mother's Milk" and it looks like with a 1g shot she doesn't need to pump and dump at all, it's listed as L2, which is the 2nd most safe category, roughly equivalent to pregnancy category B.

Thank you!!!! Can you look Keflex up for me in Hales please? They gave her a script for that but she was going to wait till tomorrow call the LC see about it

I really appreciate the help. The baby is now nurcing very happily. She does not like bottles wants her mommy

Hale's lists Keflex as Cephalexin: L1 = Safest.
