www.marksdailyapple.com

176lbs 6 weeks ago, to 159lbs this morning. I have dropped from a size 14 to a size 10 and they are too loose. I have more energy, no bowel/stomach issues (I was definitely suffering eating grains) my skin looks great. I'm like a walking advertisement for primal living!

Seriously, I love my new lifestyle. I love that I don't feel like a slave to cardio anymore, I love that I can eat and feel full without stressing about calories or points. I love being PRIMAL!

Thank you to all of the mamas on MDC that suggested I check out marksdailyapple, I owe you my renewed health and well being.

Many, many, many kudos to you!!! It is easy when you feel so great doing it! I have dh doing paleo for a weight loss competition for work and he is impressed as well, he is never hungry eats yummy food and still is losing weight while his coworkers are eating nasty diet nofat food!

Congratulations, that's fantastic!

So...do you still have dairy? I've considered going Primal but I don't know if I can give up cheese. And cream. And butter.

Congratulations! That is so awesome. I am in the process of going primal right now. I am doing well, but still have a small amount of dairy. I feel great though!

So from what I understand, the basics are organic lean meat and seafood, vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds. Pretty much anything that our ancestors from long long ago would've ate. No dairy, no grains, no processed foods, etc.

I read quite a bit last night and it looks like something I could really do, except most of our meat intake comes from deer/moose/elk and it looks like "they" discourage the use of venison because it is hunted during the time where the animal has large amounts of fat storage. Can anyone tell me about that?

I don't know if I believe in the paleo thing exactly 100% -- but when I was doing the grain-free thing the first time I lost weight so effortlessly and easily. Got down to my ideal weight of 104, had a flat tummy (except for the excess skin ) and had energy, too! Then I tried it again after I had my 3rd child, and it didn't work-- hardly lost weight even after 5 months or so. I had a nasty candida overgrowth I was trying to fight, too, though. I gave up and started eating horribly. I will be going grain-free again, though, probably after Thanksgiving, or maybe just very low-grain. Dairy I will eat in small amounts, though. I LOVE dairy. I'll just have it be more of a garnish/treat and not a dietary staple.

CONGRATULATIONS!

You know, I'm vegan but ALWAYS lose and feel great when I stick to the veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds beans and eliminate the grains. I don't even watch my fat! Is there a such thing as Vegan Primal?

See, I think Mark Sisson's Primal Blueprint is different than Paleo or eating Primal. I think.

Actually, that's probably not the Marks Daily Apple version. Primal Blueprint, if I"m not mistaken, is certainly high fat. It seems to be along the same lines as Traditional Foods. They encourage high fats. And you know what - the food tastes so much more satisfying!

Ya, most Paleo diet advocates these days advocate for higher fat. And game meat is crazy not to allow on a Paleo diet.

Actually a small amount of dairy, when full fat is ok, especially butter and heavy cream. Good cheese gets the thumbs up from Mark as well, as long as it's in your 20. He encourages an 80/20 lifestyle with what he calls reasonable healthy indulgences, including red wine, dark chocolate...

It's not about lean meats as much as paleo is, primal is about protein, high fat (healthy fats, like CO, butter, ghee, bacon fat), veg and small amounts of fruit. NO GRAINS, no sugar, low carb. I've only been following the website (I'm hoping for the book for christmas!) but I have gathered that he believes your omega 3 omega 6 ratio is very important, and therefore encourages fish oil VitD sup.

The main reason I did primal instead of paleo is it seemed less strict and dogmatic. Something I could follow without feeling like I was joining a fundamentalist cult yk? It wasn't about rules, but about understanding why certain foods are bad for you.

So when it comes to dairy (which I love btw) he doesn't say it's bad for you like grains are, but that if you are trying to loose weight you may want to restrict your dairy intake.

Anyways I'm rambling, his website has so much great info.

Thanks for all of the encouragement ladies!

You're really inspiring! I am sitting at 175 and just started exercizing daily. I've not lost much yet but do I ever feel better! I am trying to cut all sweets and most starches while upping the veggies. I'm off to check out your link....

So what books do you all recommend then?

Wow. I need to loose some weight but can not diet...I need a lifestyle change that does not include processed junk. I'm off to check this out. Thanks for the inspiration.

This is an EXCELLENT website. I don't know that I've ever visited a website attached to a book that was so information rich.
I've always loved this type of eating. I made the egg muffins for breakfast this morning and the family loved them.
Thank you so much for posting this and congratulations on your impressive weight loss. You've inspired me to get back on track. I plan to be posting similar results in the new year.
