Home Cholesterol Test recommendation?

Thread Starter
Anybody have thoughts or information on a reliable/useful home test for cholesterol? I'd love to monitor my husband's cholesterol (has a family hx of heart disease). We are slowly moving into a more and more TF diet, which we love, but I guess I need a little reassurance that we are in a healthy cholesterol range.

Thank in advance.

This site has quite the array of tests available at reasonable prices:

I dare say that homocysteine is going to be the next big thing in heart health, though, so I would research that before ordering just a cholesterol test.

If one of the tests has the option of getting a reading/count/whatever on "small particle LDL" that is supposed to be very important. That's the stuff that causes damage and sticks where it's not supposed to and is a good indicator of inflammation in the body. It's all about inflammation. Cholesterol is a symptom of inflammation.

The simple LDL, HDL, triglyceride test is not enough anymore. C-reactive protein is another great measure for inflammation.

I was actually going to suggest both of the items that pps mentioned - vLDL and homocysteine. I'm just not convinced personally of the value of the LDL, HDL, trigliceride, total cholesterol levels.
