my DD is 3 months. recently the oversupply/OALD has been under control. I stopped block feeding a few weeks ago, and now she takes one side per feeding.
yesterday I had oatmeal for breakfast, and since then DD is drowning in milk. I am leaking, she is spitting up, it's not pretty LOL. Does oatmeal work this fast/effectively? Or is it coincidence? Maybe she has been nursing more for a 3-month growth spurt, and I didn't notice?
My other question is a major dilemma. Normally I take combination bcp, for months without a break. If I don't, due to polycystic ovaries, migraines, and terrible PMS, I am suffering for days at ovulation, for an entire week before af, and for the week of af. It really affects my quality of life. I think that af will be back soon; for the past 2 weekends I have had spotting, cramps, and hormonal migraines. It came back around this time last time I was bfing too.
I do not want to go back on the pill if it is going to threaten nursing. I nursed my elder dd for 3 years until she self weaned, and I want this lo to have the same option. But then I wonder, considering the oversupply, is it really likely to dry the milk up enough to threaten us nursing? If it does, and I stop taking it, is it really not going to be recoverable with herbs, oatmeal, and marathon nursing?
I can't find any concrete information about those questions, and while I will put up with the menstrual problems for nursing, I'd rather not if I don't have to. I just don't know if I have to.
