Split pants- opinions?

I was thinking of getting some split crotch pants for Hannah (who is 19 months) but I'm starting to wonder if I should. When she goes potty, she wants me to take everything off, sometimes even her top! It's one sign I know she needs to go, she wants everything off! So I'm not sure if she'll go potty while wearing pants, and I'm not sure if I want to encourage her to go sit on the potty while wearing pants. Hmmm...... She's just starting to take herself potty, but at this point has only done it 3 or 4 times. Since she does sometimes take herself, I like to put her in tops that she won't sit on. (I used to dress her in a long t shirt or a dress with leg warmers, which works if I'm the one putting her on the potty.) How does it go with split pants with your LOs this age?

I have never tried split crotch pants for that reason. I am really settled on training pants and elastic waist pants but that may change after she starts pottying herself.

My daughter is 21 months, so pretty similar in age to your dd. We've not used split crotch pants, but these days she goes potty completely independently at home. She wears a dress, which she has now learnt to pull up before sitting and nakey bum underneath.

We're on holiday this week and have no little potty and she has worn disposable trainers but has said "weee" every time and even held on while we find a toilet in a foreign city. It's been very easy to travel with her! Not so sure about the elder siblings (they pee fine but seem to take up so much space in the city!)

I bought one pair of split pants thinking they might be nice for my DD when it was wintertime - and it just really wasn't the thing for us. She also liked to have her pants off.

With my DS, though, the pants were still around and I found them very handy when we played out in the backyard - fleece split crotch, made it so that it was easy to pee him in the grass and not get cold, and if a little pee got on them they were fleece so it didn't matter.

So I really liked them for outside in cool weather, but not most of the time.

Thank you for the replies! I love the idea, and may try them yet one of these days! I just tried the pull up trainers on her (fortunately I only have two pair!) and again she wanted them completely off before she'd pee. Yay for dresses and legwarmers!
