Right now

Baked goods

And I make blueberry vodka every year when we go blueberry picking. I use store-bought vodka and infuse it with blueberries. It's delicious!
All of that makes wonderful Christmas gifts. I used to make several different varieties of jam and salsa and take them in a huge box to work just before Christmas and let folks choose a jar as their gift. Poeple LOVED it and got so excited. Starting in November people asked what kinds of stuff I had been making.

I have to know how you make these.
There are several marshmallow recipes floating around the web.

I know vanilla extract is made by soaking vanilla beans in vodka. I imagine almond extract must be similar. I've yet to try it but it's in my plans.

I make about 1/3 of our bread and lots of our other baked goods. I also make my own seasoning mixes (like chili or taco seasoning) rather than buying them.

applesauce
applebutter

I'm always looking to add more to the list. A good friend and I have plans to share a garden next year and do lots of canning, especially tomatoes.

How do you render lard and what do you start with and where do you buy it?

DH wants to make saltine crackers and plans to use bacon grease. He makes biscuits with the bacon grease and they taste good, but I'd like to get away from the bacon flavor in every baked good.

Thanks!
