19 month old can't sleep

We are all very very tiered. My 19 month old keeps tossing and turning and crying at night. He finally fell asleep for the first time at 10pm woke up at 12pm took 30min to get him back to sleep then woke up crying at 2am and didn't go back to sleep until 5:30pm and then off and on throughout the morning. Both him and DH are sleeping right now.
He has always been a bad sleeper but for the past month it has been getting worse each day. DH is starting to get sick from not sleeping well. I am 12 weeks pregnant and need my sleep. We have tried cutting down on dairy, hylands for teeth, giving him water in case he is thirsty, taking him to the bathroom and nothing has worked.
What are we missing???

Maybe a different food intolerance like wheat?? My youngest is 2 1/3. It's been very rough. She usually wakes at least once a night, but it's getting better. Periodically, she wakes up several times a night. My husband and I sleep apart and take turns getting up with her so that at least one of us gets decent sleep.

It could also be the canine teeth coming in. My boys started coming in at about that age.

For us, in that situation, it was an ear infection. Get his ears checked. The only symptom for us was bad sleep at night. Otherwise he was perfectly fine. He was immediately sleeping better once that cleared up. You can also try ear drops - we have garlic willow drops that seem to help sometimes.
