DD has been fussy when nursing for the past 10 days or so. She latches on fine, but then is unwilling to suck for more than a few seconds, and definitely doesn't want to stay latched on long enough for a letdown (which takes about 1-2 min. of continuous sucking). She backs off, fusses, and then reattaches, sucks for 10 seconds, and starts the cycle over again. Sometimes I can convince her stay on and suck long enough for a letdown and then she is happy and will stay on long enough to drink her usual amount, but sometimes she gets fed up with it and squirms away, all the while fussing (probably because she is hungry).

She's 8 months. Not crawling, but cruising a lot. We're doing BLW and I've tried nursing her before, after, and in between adult-food feedings. In the past 10 days, she's become much more interested in eating food (as opposed to playing with it and tasting it) and consumes it with gusto. Not sure whether this is a cause or a consequence of the nursing issue. She nurses pretty well at night (still feeding 2-3 times at night).

There are no other stressors or sudden changes in anything, I work 4 hours a day, but I have for the past 5 months. She's with her dad during that time, who gives her a bottle as he has always done (plus adult food). She has one tooth, but doesn't show any signs of teething. No signs of a cold at the moment. I suppose I yelp when she has bitten me before...

So is this a nursing strike? I know that babies generally don't self-wean this early, but it does seem to be coinciding with a sudden interest in food. Has anyone else encountered this sort of thing?
