Anybody else NOT having bloodwork done?

It seems like everybody is getting blood drawn to get their hcg levels tested. Is there a reason for this? This is my 5th pregnancy, and I don't think I've ever had bloodwork done before my first appt. at about 10 weeks. Are you all requesting to have it done, or do your Dr's automatically order it? Just curious!

I have never done it and dont plan to this time either.

I'm not. It's not standard practise in New Zealand, although you can request to have it done if you want to. I did with my last pregnancy (loss) and it caused all kinds of anxiety. It was horrible. So never again.

You generally have your first lot of bloods (full blood count, iron stores, rubella antibodies and others I cant remember) sometime in the first trimester. Usually at your first visit with midwife you get a form to order bloods.

I only had bloodwork done the one time we thought I was miscarrying (and I was )

I'm not. I don't see the point unless you think you're miscarrying. I don't think it's routine. This is my 3rd baby and i've never had beta tests.

i requested it, because of my history of miscarriage and to establish a positive pregnancy so i could get a birth certificate later. that was my one and only appt for my entire pregnancy. we will be doing up/uc just like last time.

My OB ordered it for me because I've already had two miscarriages in the past 14 months. I don't think it's routine unless you're having problems, or have a history of miscarriage.

I am not although I felt like doing it earlier today.

I am so afraid to miscarry again, but I think blood test free is ok with me.

I'm not. I don't have any medical issues or history of miscarriage. I like to take a very hands off approach to pregnancy and let nature to do it's thing. I'm sort of leaning towards not getting any blood work done the entire pregnancy.

I did with my first, which was ectopic, and my 2nd to confirm a viable pregnancy. I didn't with my last, and with this there are no plans to.

It's not standard practice here either, but I have a history of terrible hormone levels and miscarrying, so they do the blood work and it gives me a sane amount of reality, positive or otherwise.

I am under the care of a Reproductive Endo and they are like vampires so its bloodwork all the time.

No bloodwork here. I'm crossing my fingers on this one sticking and I figure that there isn't much anyone can do for me if it doesn't.

No bloodwork here. I had one m/c, my first pregnancy, but nothing that raises eyebrows or warrants worry beyond normal statistics. We also go the low-intervention route. The only tests I did during pg were iron & glucose - we chose not to do any additional screening or anything.

no bloodwork here.

I had bloodwork done this pregnancy because we were having fertility issues and I was scheduled for an HSG. A week before my HSG appt I got my BFP but they wanted to confirm with bloodwork before cancelling the appt.

I didn't have it done with my daughter and had mixed feelings about that.
Part of me felt like it was a good thing b/c having numbers would just give me something else to obsess about, but I have to admit to feeling a bit jealous that I was "missing out".

If I'm totally honest I'd have to admit to coveting an early U/S. There's no reason for me to get one, but none the less I really want to see the bean...

I am having bloodwork done, since my pregnancy with my daughter I had very low hormone levels and was put on progesterone.

Not having mine done

No bloodwork here either. There are enough times when it seems more pressing and I'm a squeamish gal!

No bloodwork for me. I will probably have an early u/s. I have only had 1 ppaf and that was in September. I am almost positive of my dates, but I know my mw will want to do one because I have a history of large babies. I am ok with that because then I won't get pushed into having a baby before he/she is ready just because he/she is big & we weren't sure of dates.
