raw veggies and bloating!

I have been not eating very many raw veggies lately and then I started to eat salads after someone mentioned cucumber and tomato salad with creamy dressing(YUM) and I have had to stop again because I think they are making me feel bloated?

Is that something that could be happening? And why?

It's all the soluble fiber. Just start out with smaller amounts. I cannot eat too many raw things at a time. I can eat loads of carrots/zucchini, but things like broccoli and too much lettuce/cabbage raw is BAD news for my stomach

got it. I was eating like it was going out of style, it just tasted so good and I hadn't had salad in a while either. Plus the dressing was so yummy and full of good stuff. But I will just try different things until I figure out what makes me feel bad and avoid it.

from a chinese medicine standpoint (sorry if i sound like a broken record!!), one doesn't want to eat vegetables raw much at all- too much work for the digestive system to "cook" the food. so you aim to eat cooked veg, even if just lightly steamed. and absolutely one of the things that can happen w/ too much raw veg is bloating. personally, i think it depends a bit on constitution, everything in moderation, and all that. listen to your body....

Raw veg is hard on my digestion. I eat my veggies cooked, all of them. They don't have to be cooked a lot, but some.

Beans are the only thing that mess me up, and lentils. I can eat green beans no problem (cooked), but green peas, kidney beans, lentils, etc - give me gas & make me uncomfortable. In allergy testing, I reacted strongly to kidney beans & green peas...

I've posted this article before, it's quite interesting:

How cooking helped us to evolve

Juice the raw veggies instead.
