Fact or fiction? - Page 2

I just remembered, when DS was a baby, we got Pee-pee teepees for him. They were made in Canada where most baby boys are intact. I guess enough intact little Canadian boys are getting their parents that it seemed like a business opportunity.

I wonder if it's possible that the spraying you see is an artifact of prematurity that they grow out of, or is simply associated with the neonatal period as many here are reporting their sons do it when very young and then stop?
That's funny. My intact preemie boy peed on me every diaper change in the NICU. Once he hit full term he never peed on me again.

My intact daughter, on the other hand... pees on me just about every diaper change. Little sinker!

My intact son did not spray, but judging from the other responses it looks to me like we can mark this down as anecdotal and not a rule of thumb.

Maybe it has more to do with foreskin coverage than actual circ status? My boys foreskins always seemed to weigh them down, so if they did pee(maybe a handful of times) outside the diaper, it just kind of trickled out towards their legs. I have never gotten "sprayed" My friends son, who is circed had nothing to weigh it down, so it pointed straight up, and she got sprayed all the time. So maybe an intact boy with a short foreskin would have the same result?

Just a thought.

Take care,

My DS didn't spray much, but once managed to pee in his own ear...

I've been hosed by my intact boys more times than I can count

Both my Boys did but only in the first month or two. DS2 actually peed in his own face, poor little guy.

Neither of my boys have regularly peed during diaper changes (both are intact). I honestly can't remember the last time DS1 did so - its been years now. And DS2 has only peed during a change a handful of times - and he's actually pooped during a few changes too, maybe like half as many?

DS1 sprayed me once or twice, but not often, and not past a few months old. DS2....don't think he ever did.

My biggest diaper change pee issue has been with dd2. She's a stealth pee pro, and I frequently put a new diaper under her, only to discover that she's used the brief interval to pee all over herself, the changing surface, her clothes, etc.

Both of my intact DSs sprayed me, so I'd have to say it's a myth.

When DS was little I can count the number of times on one hand that he peed during a diaper change. It was never a spray, more like it arched out and landed in one area. DD on the other hand does the "stealth pees" as well and ends up getting her clothes and the changing table.

I have no idea if there's a connection, but I do hear a lot more about little boys peeing at every diaper change from friends who circ. I would think it would have to do with the air temperature change and being exposed.

This has been my guess too. My son pees outside of his diaper ALL THE TIME and has since birth, but the stream definitely goes more out than up. The only time he ever pees on us is if we're changing him on the rug while sitting in front of him, and the stream hits our legs or feet. He's also peed in his own face a time or two, but never in ours. Pretty amazing when you consider that he's probably peed during 200 or so diaper changes in his short life.

A lot of the circ'ed boys I've taken care of, OTOH, seem to have less shaft length in general, and with no foreskin to help weigh the penis down or direct the stream it goes straight up instead. In fact, I still can't convince my own mother that she doesn't need to cup her hand in the air over DS's genital area when she changes him so that he doesn't pee in her face. She's used to circ'ed boys and doesn't seem to realize (even though I think it's apparent just from looking at him) that it would be next to impossible for him to do that.

My little boy, who is intact and three weeks old, peed during dipe changes a lot during the first week or so, but it seems to be less frequent the older he gets. It seemed to have to do with him not being used to the cold air/wipes. Once, he peed on his face. I feel like the worst mom ever for that one. Now his penis seems to point downwards more, so the pee arcs upward and then toward his feet/my shirt.

My daughter has only peed during a dipe change for me twice in her 21-month life. But once was a "stealth" pee.

My ds certainly peed, but he never did the golden arch thing b/c his foreskin covered the hole and wouldn't allow the stream to do anything but go down.

DS is 3weeks old and intact. A 41wk baby, so not a preemie tendancy.

Does he spray? Oh yes. Yes he does. Like a firehose. Almost everytime. Not always as soon as the diaper comes off, he sometimes waits until the clean diaper is going on. He's gotten me, got DH, got himslf in the face atleast twice, gotten more than a dozen clean diapers, gotten the entire changing table... oh yes, he sprays.
