Diaper spraying questions

I found some tutorial online and think I will try and get dh to put one in this weekend. Usually I just shake the poop into the toilet but lately ds's poop isn't so solid and doesn'y just shake off. So I have been scraping it off and gross I am so over it. I know dh will say just teach him to use the potty, easy right? Well it was with ds1 who loved sitting on the potty but ds2 hates it so for now we will just keep on doing what we are doing and go for it in the spring when it warms up. I'm rambling...

I wonder how you spray your diapers? I mean to say how do you hold a poop covered diaper flatish in one hand and spray with the other? Do you put the daiper into the toilet, I read some mom say she clips, how or with what I am not sure, the diaper on the side of the toilet with the majority of the diaper in the toilet bowl. Is this a silly question?

There are no silly questions!. This might be silly in explanation though... I also use a diaper liner...but at times still use the sprayer, btw it was easy to install! I fold the diaper with the inside on the outside and use the flaps that snap to hold the top. I lower the diaper as low as possible without it being in the water and spray, starting with low pressure and increasing. If there is poop in the elastic of the legs I spread the elastic with the one hand and spray with the other. Practice helps, seems easy now but was a little awkward at first. Hope that helps!

I love our diaper sprayer! It just takes practice and trial and error. Expect your floor to get wet in the beginning! I hold the diaper in the middle of the toilet and spray with the sprayer on lower pressure (you'll find the right pressure with practice), holding the sprayer very close to the diaper. If there is mess on the edge of the diaper, I fold it over to the middle of the diaper and spray it so the water stream doesn't go out of the toilet. Good luck!

We use and love our Potty Pail system.

I use our handheld showerhead as a sub-diaper sprayer.

I find that lifting the lid (like a guy does to pee), and lowering the diaper helps a lot. I can't control pressure, but I find that angle (sorta downward/45*) gets poop off AND keeps backsplash to a minimum. I lift the diaper up while spraying the lower parts. At all times, the part I'm spraying is in the toilet bowl, not above the rim.

It's also easier to have the diaper against the rim, so it doesn't 'flop' around.

The first few times will be messy, but you'll get the hang of it.

cparkly, how do you disinfect the potty pail? I just see a poop covered (invisible poop, obviously most pieces would be sprayed off) pail that ds would LOVE to touch all over.

My son would love to touch the Potty Pail, too! The grosser the better for him. So, I store it with it's lid and base in the basement next to the washer and dryer. After I spray the diapers out and put them into the wash, I disinfect the Potty Pail and DS's diaper pail and potty in the tub with BacOut (if I have run out, I use non-chlorine bleach). Then, the three go outside for some sunshine "bleaching".

I hold the diaper right above the water and spray the sprayer facing down (so it's hitting the diaper "sideways"...almost at a 45 deree angle). If I spray it directly at thr diaper, it likes to bounce back all over my bathroom...gross!
