5 mo PP, getting cramps while nursing?

Hi there,

I am nearly 5 months PP with my first child and this past week have been getting annoying period-like cramps when we nurse. They remind me of the pains I would get when nursing DD after I gave birth, although less intense. Anyone had this before and what (if anything) is going on?

I seem to remember this happening too, now that you mention it. I'm not sure, but could it be that you're ovulating or your body is gearing back up to full fertility again?

I remember this happening a bit and kind of shrugged it off then didn't think about it again until just now!

Same here. I am 5 months pp and still nursing my twins. I almost feel as though I could start my period any second. My doctor said that it could very well be the case. I hope that you get some answers soon.

Thanks for the feedback, they are really annoying me. I don't know if they are so annoying because I forgot how bad PM cramps are or if they remind me of contractions or if something is wrong. I am going to call the doc today and she what she has to say. I did a little research and I think it said on kellymom that your body may just be gearing up to have a period again, dang it!
