Thanksgiving?

I'm looking around Currclick for something fun for Thanksgiving, and just have no idea what to pick...this would be for a young k and 2nd grader. I'm thinking a lapbook might be fun since we haven't done one yet this year and I think we could use something different from what we've been doing to mix things up a bit before we get in a rut. I'm always afraid to teach them the 'wrong' things when it comes to some historical things and in the end teach them nothing...this can't be right LOL. What would be fun and informative? I know we could use a couple books to keep or from the library, but like I said a lapbook or workbook of some sort for a hands-on experience. Any ideas? Favorite stuff from Currclick or something?

If you go to the wonderful Plimouth Plantation website, you'll find this resource to explore together, The First Thanksgiving - You are the Historian. There are also other section of the website you'll enjoy. - Lillian

Thank you Lillian...you are, as always, amazing. I've actually been to the Mayflower, I wish I could get the kids there this year! It's really so much smaller than I ever expected. I can't imagine taking that journey they did on it.

we like samuel eaton's day, sarah morton's day, and squanto's journey. we have also read and enjoyed, "thanksgiving day" by gail gibbons. the pictures from the samuel eaton and sarah morton books are actually taken at plimoth plantation...they're very good imho.

as for lapbooks, i have one i downloaded for free from hands of a child a couple years ago. i've never done it actually, but i can email it to you if desired. just pm me. hth.
