Kitchenaid attatchments??

Hi there, last year I got a KA stand mixer with some of my xmas money and am now considering asking for some of the attatchments this year. I'm most interested in the rotary slicer/shredder and how well it works/how easy to use it is? Mostly I'd love it for grating cheese - I don't *really* mind grating cheese (and/or cutting up veggies), but if I could use this thing to save time it might be nice. Is it comparable to a food processor??

Also, does anyone have the ice cream maker? Thats the other one I've looked at ever since I got my KA last year... I'd love to be able to just make ice cream whenever I/we wanted it instead of taking up lots of space in the freezer having various kinds premade...

Lots of thanks in advance!!

I bought a KA this year and LOVE it! Because I have fibromyalgia I don't have the stamina to knead bread dough and it makes such a difference. I thought about buying a grain mill attachment for it and and am so glad I read the reviews on Amazon. For that attachment, the consensus definitely was NOT to buy it, as it works the motor too hard. My advice would be to check the reviews for each attachment you're interested in. Amazon reviews haven't done me wrong once!

I can't tell you what attachments would be most helpful because I don't have any yet. It probably boils down to what would be most useful to you. For instance, if you have a food processor that slices/shreds, you may want to think twice about getting the KA attachment. But then again, it could make life much easier for you.

I LOVE my ice cream maker attachment! It's so easy to use, and makes amazing ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbets... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I also like the meat grinder/sausage maker attachment. I often grind up chicken and pork, and it's very user friendly!

I don't have the slicer shredder.

I have a bucket full of attachments that I haven't even looked at or used. Mostly I use the whisk and mixing paddle. (Almost every day!)

My grandma gave me her kitchen aid and all of her attachements before she died. She said I was the only one of her grandchildren that loved to cook and bake, and she wanted her kitchen aid to "get some love" now that she couldn't use it.
