But I can't see anywhere that any portion of the profit actually goes to the non-profit organization being 'supported'. That seems kinda off to me.

I'd rather sendd 15 bucks directly to LLL and hope they spread the message on my behalf.

But I am very happy to see the option; I'd have never guessed LLL checks would be available!

I found this in under their FAQs:

Q: How do I know the money is being raised for the organization I choose?

A: We have contracts with all the organizations for whom we print checks. Because we are printing their checks, we must have their permission to reproduce their organization’s copyrighted logos. In exchange for the right to reproduce the logo, the organization receives compensation. Licensing royalties are based on the sales price of each product, and vary with type of product and the details of each licensing agreement. The average royalty is 10%. Check with an individual organization to determine its exact royalty amount.
