Yep, it said that it is leached into plants from the soil in higher concentration. I don't know why it is found in higher amounts in hypoallergenic formulaes rather than ALL forumula . . . interesting.

I did find something about the counting rules everyone is talking about (http://www.mercuryexposure.org/index.php?article_id=133) . . . I'll have to compare them to her test results.

I must say she really lately has been doing A LOT better. We are just now since dd2 learning how much food can affect you . . .

also, her hair test results said that low calcium causing insomnia type 1 for anyone who is struggling with sleep issues. There's something interesting to put in your arsenal.

I've done hair tests, pee tests, everything but blood tests. The pee tests reinforced the hair test results, but the hair test was a lot easier to interpret. The data I've seen says split data samples don't work when you send them to different labs, and those labs have out of date equipment. Same goes for blood tests and pee tests - I don't think hair tests are uniquely variable between labs, just less used by mainstream docs.

Interesting - it looks like the primary source is actually food and hypoallergenic forumula (she has been on neocate). Plus, sodas - which I am sad to say I drink a lot of (I don't get a lot of sleep).

One of the articles said that probiotics helps your body excrete the metals and I have been giving her probiotics.

Also, one of the articles said it aggected the digestive system - you don't say

I hope she is going to be okay.
Our primary source was the glaze on our dishes - it can be lots of places. And yes, cadmium messes with digestion, primarily by messing with zinc. I personally don't think probiotics do anything unless you have metals stored in the gut (common for mercury, but not others that I am aware of). Cadmium stores in the liver and kidneys - so giving liver protective supps is a good idea if you can. And supping zinc, while you think about what else to try.

And on the feeling stupid thing - don't. I used to work in medical research, and I felt like I was in kindergarten when I arrived here 8 months ago. It's a steep learning curve, but it can be so empowering to realize you *can* figure this stuff out with help, and you *can* help your child.

Do you have any suggestions for liver protecting supps? Milk thistle?

We do the milk thistle - I get powder capsules. I used to sprinkle the powder on food (meat and stuff), now DS will swallow small capsules, so I do that instead.

Oh, and low mag can cause sleep issues too...
