I posted a comment in a thread a few days ago about my incident at the local YMCA. I signed up for a free month and while there I was told by a child care worker that I could not breastfeed there because the children would see me. I left and never went back. Even though I signed up for a mom/daughter class and was looking forward to membership the woman made me very uncomfortable. It was not just the breastfeeding honestly. She did not seem to know anything about children and when I asked her what they would do with my 11 month old if she cried she said she would put her in a swing. The room was small and kinda crappy with a bunch of swings along the wall. The woman struck me as someone who should not be around children. She talked bad about the morning staff to me. She was not paying any attention to the kids. And ont op of everything else she told me breastfeeding in front of the kids was inappropriate.
I called the local Y twice leaving messages with two different managers and never heard back. Instead I got a bill in the mail for $700 even though I was supposed to get a scholarship.
So the other day I wrote a letter to the HQ. I only mentioned the breastfeeding incident and that I had called several times and never heard back. I just got a response and it was pretty empty...

Do you take this to mean the breastfeeding policy is up tot he local branch?? I thought they had a national policy. Or are they saying the policy is that the local branch must deal with the issue?
Either way what a disappointing response. She did not address any of the issues I brought up.
