If you rec'd this xmas card from us would you think we were weirdos?

:P

We have a sense of humour, and *think* most of our friends and family do too. We want to send this out as our xmas card this year, and think it's funny, but we're wondering: do you think people will 'get' it or just think we're weirdos?

DDC crashing

If I received that card I would know that you are just weird enough to be my friend.

I read it to my husband and he said, "They offended me by being Canadian. Dang socialist health care!" Hm, jealous much husband?

DOC crashing. That picture is the most fetching thing I've seen on a holiday card. Use it!

As for the satire...I think that poking fun of PC-lingo is pretty stale by now. It's an old type of joke and as such isn't very funny or original. I would go with something sincere.

I like your kind of weirdo :-)

honestly? the photo is absolutely perfect in every way.
BUT I have to agreee with zinemama. It's funny, but really old now and I would rather get something sincere and heartfelt at Christmas time. But I'm an old softie.

I think that quote has been around for quite some time, but nonetheless it is funny as heck.

BWAHAHAHAAH! That is TEH FUNNY!

I love it. And personally I have a really difficult time finding holiday cards that are "sincere" because I don't celebrate Christmas, and even most so called "neutral" cards have something that is linked to Xmas. So sarcasm works well for me.

Ditto. It would rub me the wrong way, to be honest. Being "politically correct" is really just about being polite, and I don't agree with broad brush that enjoys painting it as some wacko leftist-communist conspiracy to destroy red-blooded traditional institutions. I don't know your politics, and that may very well be what you're insinuating, but whether or not you are it's how I read such jokes.

Well, since it's about as subtle as a brick wall it would be hard not to "get it." But that doesn't mean everyone finds it funny.

It's Christmastime! If I had a friend who sent me something for xmas and then thought, well sod them if they don't 'get it', I'd have to re-evaluate their friendship!

I just think that if you are making the card yourself, you have an opportunity to tell your friends and family how much they mean to you. Humour is part of that, but that card seems very cold and impersonal.
But that photo - OOSHT! I LOVE it.
