Laundry Machine Maintenance?...anyone??

Hi

*not sure if this is posted in the right forum...perhaps we need a new one titled *Mr/Ms Fix-Its*

I have some concerns about my "about to turn 7 yrs old" washer and dryer. They are the old school top loaders, Kenmore brand. So far they are both still working fine but my washer spins so intensely that it moves across the floor!
I am wondering if I can do anything to fix this?
Also, other than empty the lint trap with every use and periodically vaccuum it out I have never done any sort of "maintenance" on either machine. Is there anything else anyone can think of?

Doesn't that mean it's off balance? I think I half remember something about being able to re-balance the machine either by doing something to adjust the tub or adjusting the feet of the machine.
