my 21-months old wants to nurse all the time rop

He's always nursed a lot (every 2 hours), but lately he nurses for hours when I get home from work and during the night and weekends. He eats a lot during the day, but wants to only nurse in the evenings. He refuses dinner and then nurses at least 5-6 times during the night because he's hungry. I'm exhausted. what can I do? If I try to put him on any kind of a schedule he cries like it's the end of the world and it breaks my heart. tia

I think you need to set up some sort of limits with him so that you both can function.

One idea - can you get him to have dinner (or a really big snack) just before you get home/pick him up, so that he DOES get dinner too? And/or can that snack/dinner be really high calorie as well, so that it can help if nourishment really is the issue at night?

He also may be teething - is there a lot of drooling? Are there any things that comfort him while teething that you could try besides nursing?

Oh, and, is it possible he is eating new foods that don't agree with him?

For limits - you have to pick what you want/can live with and then just do it. He may be upset, and you will then need to be a comfort to him while he's upset, but nursing is a two-way relationship and it is important to make sure it is working for both of you.
