Biting child at DC

My kids (almost 3 y/o and 8.5 months) go to an in home day care. The provider has 2 girls of her own 4.5 y/o and just turned 2. The 2 y.o has started to bite. The thing is that it really doesn't seem aggressive to me. So far my son has been bit on the nose and cheek, both places he would be kissed, KWIM? My DD got bit on the back while she was playing sitting on the girls lap. Our DC provider is super apologetic but it kinda at a loss as to how to handle this. Her older DD didn't bite.

I know this is a stage, but does anyone have helpful suggestions to quell the biting? So far she is doing time outs, but with a newly 2 y/o I don't think it really sinks in, KWIM?

One of the suggestions I have read is to offer up crunchy snacks to the biter. They said it was satisfying.

I'll be reading with interest since I am now the mother of a biter.

I agree that time outs aren't going to work.

Sometimes the DC provider's kids can have some problems with having to have other kids at their house, playing with their toys, and taking their mom's attention. It can come out as biting or other unwanted behavior. The mom giving her child extra attention, putting special toys up, and watching for signs of problems may help.

The DC mom shouldn't try to play "fair" like some people might think. If she starts trying to make a big show of doing this her own kids might start having problems.
