Breathing question

Hi, NOt sure if this is best forum to ask this, but b/c Mamas who co-sleep are probably most aware of their baby's breathing I chose here.

My Ds is 5 months. He co-sleeps with us and always sleeps b/t Dh and Me, but nestled up to me so he can quickly get some food w/o too much fuss (or noise). I've noticed since he was born that sometimes he stops breathing for a few seconds, then resumes without a gasp, just chest rises. He still sometimes does the little panting breathing he did when he was first born. Is this normal? When he was sick a few months ago with a cold I told the pedi and they listened with stethoscope and said all sounded normal to them, but I'm still wondering if this breathing is normal for a little one.

Thanks for any feedback.

My DS has been doing that since birth too and he's now nearly 13 months. He seems to do it when he has changed position or tossed around a bit. And then he just resumes breathing again. Seems like we adults do the same thing, no? Hold our breath for a few seconds? Try to take notice of your own breathing pattern the next time you fluff a pillow or toss around to get comfortable. I don't know... if you're really concerned talk again to someone about it. Hope that helps

My 5mo ds does the same thing. We co sleep for night time and he naps on me or I wear him so I do notice every once in a while he goes a second without a breath. It always kinda freaks me out and I watch his chest for the next breath, but it always returns to normal and he seems unfased! I agree that we adults prolly do the same, but no one is there to keep tabs on our breathing . I'm sure all is fine!
