Anyone have info on the cons of getting the regular flu vax while pregnant?

Ive heard tons and tons about the h1n1 vax and not so much about the regular flu vax. Only that pregnant women "should" get them. I tried to search the web on reported side effects to the baby either in utero or after birth and what the cons would be but cant seem to find anything. Anyone know or have experience with bad effects?

What I've been told (but I haven't tracked down the actual journal articles) is that the problem with influenza in pregnancy is that the baby can be damaged. Further research indicated that it isn't the illness but the mother's immune reaction which does the damage. The vaccine, if effective, will cause an immune reaction in the mother. So the influenza vaccine could very well damage a lot more babies than the occasional random opportunistic case of the flu. Not all women get influenza when they are pregnant.

The other question is the mercury. Even the version which is "preservative free" has at least trace amounts of mercury. A neurotoxin.

It is a class C drug.

Quote:
Category C: Prescription drugs which, historically, have been more likely to cause complications for the mother or the baby. This class also includes those drugs for which there is insufficient safety data. Examples: fluconazole (Diflucan); ciprofloxacin (Cipro); fexofenadine (Allegra); and, some antidepressants.
