Can Dtap cause a cough in baby

My 5 mo Ds had 1st shot last week, Pentacel. 2 days after the shot he developed a big cough (from a little baby). He has no fever or really any other Sx and while the cough sounds loose he doesn't cough very often and it doesn't seem to bother him. I read the PI on Pentacel and it mentions respiratory illness in a small percentage of folks, but the Control group had about the same amt so it seems like it wouldn't necessarily be considered a possible side effect.

Does anyone know if a cough could be a side effect of the Vax? Sears book didn't say it was so I'm just wondering what ya'll think.

There are so many viruses going around right now that I doubt it's the vaccine that caused this cough. Practically all my friends' kids are either sick or getting over something.

The DTaP shot is notorious for causing allergies, I do hope that's not it though. (Shot In The Dark - H.Coulter)

I also believe it could have weakened his immune system generally and thus he picked up some virus which he can't fight off presently since he is trying to get rid of the vaccine.

When something is injected into the body, it tries to get back to a natural state as quickly as possible. That is why so many times after a vaccine you will see a fever in a freshly vaccinated child.
