Still nursing 17m old...and no period yet..but ready for baby #2..Help!

Hi fellow mommies,

I am still nursing my 17month old and loving it. I have not yet started my periods...but ready to start baby #2....went to my dr and they tested my blood...these seem okay but hormone levels seem I am not ovulated probably because of nursing. I am a stay at home mom so we nurse all day but not at night. Any suggestions on getting my ovulation going while still nursing my first baby?

I got my period back when I stopped bathing with ds when he was 20 mos. (he would always nurese a lot in the tub). You might just make a small change like one less nursing session.

VITEX!!!!! AKA Chasteberry. Awesome stuff and worked for me in just over a month, I had AF back.

I nursed until my son was 15 months (had to stop for surgery) and within a month it came back... I would imagine that it is the nursing that has stopped yours unless you had a preexisting condition? (I did and had to go on fertility meds).

Anyways.. ive heard wonderful thinks about chasteberry (Kellymom says it ok while breastfeeding) and am actually taking it now for a few months before our fertility Dr appointment.

My period just came back recently when my 16mo DS started sleeping longer stretches in his crib at night instead of co-sleeping. When DS1 was a toddler my period came back after I dropped a pumping session (I was a WOHM then). Little changes can affect your cycles returning. However, I know other moms who did not get it back until their LO weaned completely. I also know of moms who have gotten pg without ever getting a PP period.
