Friday the 13th drama

So yesterday was my last day at work but of course, it was crazy busy and I was on my feet all day. Just didn't feel well at all, but kept going - don't want to be the lazy pregnant nurse on my last day, yk. I had an NST scheduled at 4:15 pm so I got to leave early, thank God.

Well the NST wasn't going well, baby wasn't making the mark, was pretty non-reactive the whole time. Around 4:40 the decision was made to send me down to Maternal Fetal Medicine for a BPP. Baby's heart rate had dipped a bit, but he otherwise looked great. They took my blood pressure and it was something like 130/105 and my usual pressures are around 96/68 so of course panic ensues. I was sent over to be admitted to labor and delivery and told to be prepared to have the baby at once. So while I'm being admitted, asked a million questions, gowned, lab techs flanking me, I'm on my cell phone crying trying to organize so I can get my kids picked up from daycare and their respective after-school programs and find a place for them to spend the night. My dad hits the highway to make the 4 hour round trip to bring my mom up here. My step-mom and step-sister, whom I love and whom love me (even though we might as well be from different planets and tend to annoy the crap out of each other, lol), come up to stay with me so I'm not alone. And then, as I lie there strapped to monitors -- my blood pressure slips quietly back to normal. My labwork came back normal. My urine had only trace protein. And two hours later it is declared a false alarm and I am released home on a 24 hour urine collection.

And I am relieved to be quite honest. I did not realize just how much I meant to get done this next week without having to go in to work, until it suddenly looked like I wouldn't be able to do any of it, lol.

I had a false alarm with my first baby. At 38 weeks too. Got the family all riled up and everything, only to be disappointed when he didn't come that day. So I feel for you! But on the good side, at least you are doing fine now, and you have more time to get all your chores finished lol!!

whoa, what a hectic day! While I am sorry for all the drama, I am glad you and the babe are doing well. And I hope that you get some rest and stuff done this week. I'm hoping that you go into labor on Wednesday, ok? That's my bet. And I'm right a lot of the time about things.

Ugh! I'm sorry you had to go through all that, but I'm glad that you and the babe are healthy and doing well and that emergency steps didn't have to be taken!
