Book from the late '80s mentioning circ

Recently I went looking through some old books that I found (some of which I read when I was younger). One of them was a book published in the late '80s or so describing our bodies and what happens to them as we grow up. In the section about boys specifically, it mentioned circumcision. They had pictures showing the difference between "uncircumcised" and "circumcised" penises (the words in quotes were in the captions of the respective pictures). In the text it said something along the lines (I'm paraphrasing): "Although the penises look different, there's no difference in how uncircumcised and circumcised penises work and feel"; no, there is a difference in how they work and feel (and those on here probably know which type works and feels better). (That statement was probably put in there to make circ'd boys feel like their equipment is not inferior due to being cut.)

I think i saw that book and i do believe they don't want to make boys who are 'circ'ed ' to think they don't have a natural penis which isn't the full truth . We all know how things work & how much difference is there . As they say Truth Comes out sooner or later !

My health text book when I was in 3rd grade or so said something similar. No difference in function or reason to have it done. This was in the mid 80's.

My high school health book (publishing date: 1999) said something similar. But they DID add that if a boy wasn't circ'd, he would have to rigorously clean himself every day. I was fumed when I read it.

I went to conservative catholic schools, I was never shown a picture or drawing of a natural male anatomy. The 1 or 2 occasions where we saw a diagram of a naked man, he was always circ'd. I didn't find out what the procedure was until this past year as a result!

I was 24, and I guess I had always assumed that when the mother finds out she's having a boy, she takes some kind of hormone pills that make the boy grow differently...I wouldn't have believed you if you told me that part of my penis had been cut off, because how could any father let that happen to his son?
