Crib / sleeper suggestions

We had a mini-cosleeper with my daughter, but the cats peed in it and I found it only slightly useful anyway. Since cosleepers (& pack & plays) are all cloth they're impossible to clean after being sprayed by naughty kitties. I also want the option of having the baby sleep independantly (/wishful thinking ).

This time I need a crib! But OY - the variety is overwhelming!

If you use/d a crib/sidecar, what brand did you get? Were you happy? What functions did you like/dislike? Advice?

I do NOT need a convertable crib - we have bunkbeds with a trundle & NO room for an additional bed - however I'd love to hear about what aspects of your crib, convertable or not, you like!

Anyone? Pretty please?

Anyone use a crib as a sidecar?

I used a crib as a sidecar for my first and i hated it. The crib was a Jenny Lind and it was so flimsy! Other than that, I really have no other input.

I hope someone else chimes in for you because I know I have seen lots of posts about people that sidecar their cribs.

We LOVE our sidecarred crib. It was from buy buy baby, don't remember the name and it's not listed on their website.

On our VERY outdated (as in, didn't have our now almost 8 month old baby when we made this) website we show how we attached our crib.

it's under "final preparations" and "something special this way comes"

Altair - that is AMAZING!!!!!! Exactly what I was picturing! And you look absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Unbelievable!

Did you leave one of the sides off the crib? I'm not sure if I'd prefer a drop down side or just leave a side off & do the full sidecar. Your set up looks SO nice!!!!!

Cribs are so darn expensive & it seems all of them convert now. I think I'll just start looking at the consignment store... we'll see!

ReadingRenee - there are a lot of sidecar posts, but none of them list brands of cribs which is really what I'm after (along with the drop down side vs. full sidecar question)

If anyone has input on brands that would be great! I doubt I'll get any Apparently my thread is unpopular!

sorry it took me so long to respond! Thanks for the compliments, we love the set-up! I took the 4th side completely off for safety. If you keep it up to slide up and down then you'll have a gap between the crib and bed and that's not safe for a little one. Now at 8 months old it would probably be ok, but our particular crib doesn't have a moveable side anyway. I don't remember the brand name and I don't see it on it! Most cribs will work fine though, as long as it says it converts to a toddler bed. Then get some pool noodles to easily stuff the other side.

Thank you!!!!!

We had a side-carred crib - took the whole side off and it was fine. It was a hand-me-down so I don't remember the brand but I know there's one at IKEA where you can just take a side off.

Carley,

Thanks for asking this question. I needed this info too.
