I went to the ER this morning and found out I have mastitis. They prescribed antibiotics but my fever has been getting worse thoughout the day. Does anyone know about how long the abx take to start working? I just feel so so sick and can barely get out of bed and it hurts so bad. My husband's birthday lunch is supposed to be tomorrow with his family and I was hoping to go, but if I still feel like this there is just no way.

Antibiotics won't work from the get go. It is going to take a bit for them to get into your system.
Hopefully you're feeling better, but rest, drink lots of fluids, apply heat and try to massage (towards the nipple) the area.
Next time you feel anything like this coming on, take action then so it won't get to antibiotic level.
I hope you're feeling better!!!

I usually find (with anything, not just the time I had mastitis) that antibiotics kick in after about 24 hours. With any luck you'll be feeling OK to go out tomorrow - maybe not brilliant, but OK to go.
In the mean time...oh, I was going to say just the same as I see Savoir Faire has already said LOL. Look after yourself (or even better, have someone look after you!)
