Milk based Kefir....spoils?

Does Milk based Kefir ever spoil?

I found some in the back of my fridge....and it still smells yummy. I have no idea how old it is. Can I make yogurt cheese out of it, or something?

I think Nourishing Traditions says it keeps a year but I personally wouldn't go that long I would imagine that goes for raw milk kefir--not the pasteurized variety.

Ultimately it's the basic rule that you shouldn't consume anything that looks, tastes or smells unpleasant.
